All tutoring (both in-person and virtual) in Washington State is currently on hold until further notice. Claremont in-person tutoring will happen in the Spring of 2023.

What we do

We pair trained high school volunteers with K-12 students for free one-on-one high impact tutoring. We aim to offer an affordable option of academic support to families affected by inequity.

Our NEW VISION

We work to spread the use of high-impact tutoring as a solution to educational inequity by (1) supporting its legislative implementation and (2) researching the benefits of our high-impact peer-tutoring model.

(1) High-Impact Tutoring is becoming known as the single most effective way of accelerating student learning and overcoming educational inequity. We support advocacy groups, educators, and legislators hoping to enact policy that implements high-impact tutoring both at state and local levels, by providing resources, direction, and testimonial.

(2) In the Fall of 2022 we will pilot a peer-tutoring program in a school district that serves as a research study for a qualified research institution. The study aims to prove the unique benefits of high impact peer-tutoring, which has yet to be explored in this new research area, and could become a leading solution for many districts due to its cost-effectiveness, tutor availability, and advancements of the tutor-student relationship.

Why we do it

Our peer tutors are trained to be academic role models, and they have shown to help students gain confidence, motivation, and problem solving skills and unparalleled rates. The high cost of private tutoring and other economic disadvantages should should not be the reason a student can’t gain the confidence and motivation they need to learn.

We recruit high school volunteers who are dedicated to becoming an academic role model for a student in their community. Every tutor is screened, trained, and matched with a student whose academic needs match the tutor’s academic strengths.

How to Get Involved

We provide a free training and then you will be matched with a student for 1-on-1 tutoring once or twice a week. You could lower inequality, be there for a student, and gain volunteer hours.

Whether you serve students who could use tutoring or own a corporation that’s seeking to help the community, we’re always looking for community partners. We partner with school districts, nonprofits, housing developments, and corporations to recruit tutors, reach students, and find the resources our program needs.

Why peer tutoring?

Why Peer-Tutoring: Peer tutoring is shown to be an effective way for students who are falling behind to learn material and develop interest in school content. Moreover, 75% of our tutors reported that mentorships developed with their tutees. At-risk youth with mentors are 55% more likely to enroll in college and 46% less likely to start using drugs.
