Sophie coined the idea of Student Connection in 2019 when seeking for a way to level the educational playing field in her community. She then began tutoring with her brother, gaining meaningful experiences and learning how to best help kids academically. She played a pivotal role in turning her idea into a structured organization. Now, as a Senior in high school, she is the head coordinator of our tutoring base, communicating with tutors from the time they apply to when they tutor. She leads our hundred-plus tutoring base as well as our high school leadership team. Sophie created and now leads our tutor training, screening process, and tutor base. She also spearheaded our tutor support initiative, which includes monthly surveys, regular check-ins, and a tutor support system. Sophie is a first-year at Claremont McKenna College.
